Vision Forum’s Reformation of Food and Family conference

Why would we need that?  I mean, our food system is just fine. With high fructose corn syrup, GMOs, highly processed food, we are fatter than ever, & sicker than ever….hum what’s wrong with that?

The food system in this country is deplorable!  I don’t know what is scarier the fact of what the “big companies” and “politics” get away with or that most American are completely ignorant to the TRUTH?

Yeah, that picture is kinda funny huh?…….But honestly it’s NOT!  A harsh truth most of us don’t want to see!

SO, what an ordinary person to do?  Come on down the the Reformation of Food & Family Conference in beautiful San Antonio, Texas.  Get inspired, become equipped, & make the first change in our food system by changing what YOUR family consumes.

Ya say you couldn’t afford to go to a conference right now, well I have just stumbled upon a really cool blog that I am SO excited to learn and read more about.  Kim Coghlan, a mama of 10 whom I cannot wait to read more from….serious she is my kind of girl, is hosting a great give away!  Check out her blog for a chance to win a FREE family pass to the conference!!!!!!!!

Filed under: marriage — redeemingcarolyne @ 4:24 am

I have been hearing this song on the radio a lot lately and kinda liked it but really didn’t think much of it.  Then today, I hear an interview from the singer and my eyes are opened to the real heart of the song.  Too funny, before hearing this interview I had not even related this song to marriage

….or maybe  I just wasn’t really listening at ALL!

Here is a copy of what Matt Kearney said about his song Ships in the Night.

“PMS is no joke man,” Mat Kearney said during an interview with Mix 96.5/Houston.

It’s not exactly something you expect to hear in an interview with the singer-songwriter. But Kearney is a guy who first picked up a guitar during college (while on a soccer scholarship) and just a few years later finds himself touring with Train. So perhaps you should expect the unexpected.

The topic of PMS came up when talking about the story behind Kearney’s most recent single “Ships In the Night,” which he wrote after making up with his wife. He explained that he had the idea for the title before the song came to him.

“It’s about two people trying to connect. Me and my wife got in

a fight on the way to the airport. So I’m leaving and we’re sitting in the car not talking to each other,” he said. “She had cramps or something and I was late because of it to the airport so I missed my flight. It was not the best.”

On his connecting flight he called his wife to apologize.

“We’re talking and we’re making up and I was taking notes, sitting there writing everything down we were saying. I was like, ‘This is such a good song!’”

He continued to joke that he’s the first man to talk about PMS in a song, “‘You had cramps and I was late,’ it says it in there,” he said.

“PMS is no joke man,” Kearney said, who’s been married to his wife Annie since June 2010. “It’s hard man, when you just want chocolate and you’re *#@*@#@ — and you don’t know why you’re mad.”

Ok, so now that you have that basis listen to the song and take in the lyrics

Ever been there done that?  How bout a million times!!!!!!

This reminds me of some wonderful wisdom I learned from Ken de Koning, who wrote 1 Plus 1=One     There is a chapter called, Fighting Fair relating to marriage as being a team.   “When your team loses, there are no winners on your team only on the opposing team.”  You BOTH win or you BOTH LOSE NOT one or the other!!!   Guess who is on the opposing team? Satan, and he delights in your losses.  Genesis 2:24 profoundly teaches us  For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.

Sometimes what feels like losing for a moment is really winning for lifetime. What are you WILLING to let go of so your marriage team will WIN?

Love 41……love for who? May 5, 2012

Mothers Day is right around the corner. Ya know that one time a year we all start asking ;oh yeah, we should get something for mom cause…….that’s whatcha do for Mother’s Day? What if you decided to show a little love on your mom, wife, grandma, or any significant mama in your life simply because you wanted to, not because it’s Hallmark holiday!  Ya know, you can do that; anytime, anywhere, and for any reason.  I’ve got a whole another blog on Mother’s Day but we will save that for now.

Now, once you’ve decided your act of kindness will be to buy her a gift …….what do you get her anyway?  What if you found a gift that embraced a myriad of blessings encompassing it?  Not only blessing the one you love but blessing so many more that you haven’t ever met or known before!

Love 41 is an amazing business started by Suzette Munson where His love extends to the multitudes whom desperately need it.

Notice the % in the above picture from Love 41.  How much of the profits go towards helping widows, orphans, & street kids?……….100%  Ok so how does this work? What is this all about?  Check out this two minute video and read on to hear the full Love 41 creation story….it will astound you!   Can you just fathom for a moment that you are a mother whom dearly loves her child and despite everything you’ve tried to do you are watching your emaciated child in front of you starving to death and the only option your environment enthralls at you is to sell yourself or sit back and watch your child slowly & painfully die.

As if that isn’t potent enough the story of how God intertwined the lives of two people who couldn’t be more different and resulted in neither ever being the same again.  I LOVE this story.  Did you hear the part in the end?  Suzette’s son was known in his town as the meanest & toughest criminal.  A blessing of opportunity most certainly holds the power to change a life!

Have ya checked out any of the stylish products yet?  They are gorgeous! Yet, some of you may say well that is all nice and good, but I don’t spend $30 on a T-shirt or $250 on a purse-NO WAY!  I hear ya! I usually spend 50 cents for our clothes or I get them for free. The idea of buying new or spending any kind of significant $ on most anything is NOT part of my lifestyle. BUT…….here….here is the absolute brilliance behind this company. If 100% of the proceeds are going to help those subject to the unthinkable, isn’t that pretty much the same as making a donation to a worthy cause?  Have you ever donated 20, 30, 100 or even 500 dollars or more to an organization you felt was doing God’s work?  Well, how often do you make a donation AND get a stunning hand crafted leather bag in return?…..That ROCKS!  So, not only are 100% of the proceeds going to help others but some of the products are actually being made by women living in some very harshest of environments whom are diligently seeking a quality life for their families.  By purchasing what they are making you are contributing to keeping them healthily employed.  That’s not enough for ya!  Many of the products carry the Love 41 logo so when you are doing life with your shirt, your purse, your necklace or whatever else is fits YOU, you can share the message of Love 41 each and every time someone raves over your product or simply asks, “Love 41 what’s that?”

Are you seeing the abundance of the blessings here!!!!!!!!!!!  If this has at ALL tugged at your heart, pierced your spirit, or stirred a motivation from within go…..GO, and check out the products on the website! Be empowered by the power in what you are doing!  Show your Love for one with your purchase and then GO love another and another.

May James 1:27 Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world  permeate the depths of your spirit.

Yeah, there is more and I almost forgot.  In celebration of mommyhood Love 41 is giving you FREE shipping on orders within the US & of $100 or more through May 31.  Need I really give you another reason?  Go SHOP, GO SERVE….GO LOVE!

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, a conviction of things not seen.                                                           Securely I can rest His plans for me will not be lean                                                                                                                     But what about a picture that really makes no sense                                                                                                           And every attempt to justify contracts my muscles to tense

That insatiable seeking ravenous for its love                                                                                                                              Its purity, its whiteness perched like a dove                                                                                                                              Peering and seeking, waiting as only one                                                                                                                                    Desperately fighting praying its not done

A need placed from above that I did not invite                                                                                                                      Starving without fulfillment causing me to spite                                                                                                              It cries and moans echo in my ear                                                                                                                                   Only to be left gripping the inner most depths of fear

Reaching out squelching only to be left unheard                                                                                                                    Ignites the thoughts & daydreams of soaring like a bird                                                                                 Rising ever so high in the sky completely out of reach                                                                                        Where pain cannot acquire and do its ugly teach

For without this love I haven’t learned to survive                                                                                                                               Its as if I’ve had to swallow death while I’m yet alive

His words awaken and penetrate the heart                                                                                                                                    Embedding, expanding right from the start

Job 40:2  “Will the faultfinder contend with the almighty?                                                                                               Let him who reproves God answer it”

Women and Children First….is that even Biblical? March 31, 2012

Filed under: Family,Finding yourself in Christ — redeemingcarolyne @ 3:19 pm

I wrote this story this past December and entered it in a story contest hosted by Vision Forum I did not expect to win though that would have been nice since the thousand dollars would have gotten me to Texas this July, but I did not.  The experience of writing this was so awesome as God was speaking so clearly at that moment in time.

For the past month I have been going through Emerson Eggerichs’ book Love and Respect as well as watching the group study videos.  Repeatedly I am brought to so many parallels and relevant truths that I felt I had to share what my eyes have been opened to SEE.  In one of his sessions Dr. Eggerichs talked about feminism and a sinking boat.  Would not even a feminist aboard the sinking Titanic be in favor of women and children first?  I don’t think there would be a protest there!

In order to shed light on Women and children we must also shine the light on men. We can’t have one without the other…can we!  What exactly does God say about the role and the character of men and women? What about the children… we, as Christians, understand what God has to say about His children?

If I embrace the inner being, the deep seeded need within a man would Women and Children first really become clearer?  Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.  So right here is a clear call upon husbands to lead.  When I look up head in the dictionary I find the definition the position or place of leadership, greatest authority, or honor.  Can you hear those powerful words, leadership, authority, and honor?  Then in verses 25 & 33 husbands are commanded to love their wives.  It seems that God commands us to do things because they go precisely against every human inclination we have.  That fact that God has to command men to do this does speak loudly as to not only they are not naturally wired to give this kind of love, but also to their deepest need.  This doesn’t seemingly flow out of a man because it is not what he innately needs.  For a man to receive honor and respect is to receive love.  In the second part of Ephesians 5:33 a wife is commanded to respect her husband…why?  Because God knows that this essential for a man to survive.  Again reaffirming without question who a man is in Christ.

Why are so many unruly teenage and older young men sent off to the military?  More times than not these men not only become productive but outstanding men of honor…..why?   On a daily basis they are being trained in their deepest inner needs, leadership, authority, honor, and respect.  When this need is fed and shaped these men are compelled with great dignity and esteem to die for one another.  How else could a man willingly and even without fear give up his life, because he is acting upon the core of who God created him to be.

Ephesians also reveals what a wife is to do as well as what she needs to survive. Verse 5:23 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.  Submit is defined as to give over or yield to the power or authority of another, to allow oneself to be subjected to some kind of treatment, or to defer to another’s judgment, opinion, decision.  Surrendering and trusting in my husband just as I daily surrender and trust in my Lord.  In obeying that command I am not only being faithful to the Word, but I also am fulfilling one piece of my husband’s deepest need TO LEAD.  It takes greater strength and obedience to submit then to rebel and in doing so one will discover a great fruit that is produced.

Fulfilling your role as a woman only removes the barriers for a man to fulfill his God ordained role.  What enables a man to lead his family so well?  That mighty command in verse 33 and the wife must respect her husband.  Through submitting in obedience to God (which is the only way to submit or ya really aren’t submitting at all…are you?) and unconditionally respecting a husband, how can he not be compelled to be your hero unto death!

Ephesians 33 not only commands a wife to love her husband but it also commands a husband to love his wife…..why?  Love is a woman’s innate nature and her deepest NEED.   God knew what He was doing when He created a woman to carry a child in the womb and to nourish that babe by nursing him.  It is out of her God given nature that she can do these things so well.  I didn’t say it was easy, but she does do them well.  Let’s say we are in the woods taking a hike and out of the forest charges a bear.  The first gut reaction of a man would be to find a weapon and attack the bear risking his own life.  What would be the first reaction of the woman?  She would grab hold of those children of hers and thrust them towards her for dear life and immediately seek a safer location….would she not?

A child, none of us reached adulthood without being one first.  Psalm 36:7   How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.   The peace that flows when I visually imagine resting under the wings of God.  He is our great and embracing wing here to protect His precious creations……His little children.

Matthew 18:1-5   At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.  Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.  Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.  Receiving a child is receiving Christ. The innocence, the deepest of honesty, and the purest of purity in a child.  The immature mind so unknown to the many knowns. Whom of us wouldn’t be willing to save one?

Psalm 127:3   Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward.  Heritage is defined in the dictionary as something that comes or belongs to one by reason of birth.  Children come to you because He gave them to you.  That is so powerful and as if not enough the verse goes on to say that they are a reward.  This magnificent, spectacular, and challenging being is my reward from God….I am in absolute awe.  God’s rewards, the children that come from and belong to…..Him are given to us to be treasured and dearly protected.

In accepting and relishing God’s commands to submit and give unconditional respect I will find myself receiving the blessing of being protected and loved through a man’s great honor. The more I sculpt and magnify my God-given ability to unconditionally love these children the greater will my ability be to embody my cherished gifts.

So is women and children first Biblical?  His truths are clear and ever convicting all one has yet to do….is believe them.

7 Days in Utopia March 6, 2012

Filed under: Finding yourself in Christ,Journey to the Core — redeemingcarolyne @ 5:44 am

7 days in utopia….cool I’m going.  How bout a lifetime in utopia?

I love a movie that not only speaks the Word of truth, but also gives you an application to apply it to your life!

When was the last time you listened to that small still voice?    Maybe you haven’t ever completely stopped to hear it?  Can you imagine a world in which ALL of us, as Christians actually DID what Uncle Johnny did and acted on our Christian faith? To serve, to teach, to mentor, to befriend, to care……on a brother or sister in Christ who was hurting and struggling and desperately needed not us, but CHRIST!

See God’s face….Feel His presence……Trust in His love.  Can you say that about yourself…is that how you are walking out each and everyday?

What is your truth in life?  Uncle Johnny shares, “the truth of life is about faith, relationships, character, and integrity? That God HAS a purpose and a calling for YOU!  Make these truths your new heartbeat, your new foundation.”

Do you believe a simple movie can hold the power to facilitate a change in the trajectory of your journey? What if…….you implemented the brilliance shared in this movie?   How would your life change if you really wrote out all the truths that you have learned in your journey?  I said TRUTHS.……there is one infallable truth…..the Word of God!  What does He say is the truth about your life?  Then you would write out EVERY lie you have ever been told in your life. Instead of holding on to these for dear life and allowing them to leave you disillusioned…you BURY them. They are dead and useless and belong 6 feet under where they can NEVER reach you again.

Do you think going through that kind of deep revelation would open up your heart and reveal to you what you would want your epitaph to say?  In my journey I have heard repeatedly the importance of having a mission statement, the external, relating to the outside world, the why in my life. Then there is my vision, the internal, the how am I going to bring glory to His kingdom.  What if in writing your epitaph, the what you would want the world to say about you after you are gone, could be turned into your mission &  vision statements for the right now?  The time that He is giving you here on earth IS to go out and DO SOMETHING!  Our marvelous God who created the entire universe did NOT bring you here for NO good old reason.

Seek out His reason, and when you seize it, run tenaciously and DON’T look back!

Psalm 16:11  You will show me the path of life
In Your presence is fullness of joy
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Are you going to find your path through the world or Christ?  His path is clear ya just have to see it.  There is a condition to that fullness of joy……I have to be in His presence.  Eternal pleasures…..NOT a thing this world has to offer that could even compare.

Forgiveness Part 1…..Sepsis March 3, 2012

In a one more time effort to overcome the hurts and the wounds of my past I started searching for what would be the next answer. Feeling like I was one more time in that dark dead end ally I decided I’d try counseling yet again.  After only one session, which wasn’t bad, I had this sense that this wasn’t necessarily where I was supposed to be.  A sermon series entered my thoughts which I had heard one whole year earlier and I began to remember just how profound the words were.  There was nothing wrong with the counseling idea, I am in favor of people seeking out counseling, it was just this force that I wanted to solely rely on the word of God to be my stronghold to climb out of this…..overcome…….and NEVER return. So, I began to listen to the sermon, take notes, read the passages, and pray…….listen, take notes, read the passages, and pray….again and again and again.

We ALL have wounds and hurts to varying degrees and let’s get real as sinful people, no matter how good you think you are at some point YOU have inflicted hurt upon someone else.  What happens when the trials of life come carrying their strife and pain and you DON’T completely treat the wounds?……..they remain. One small wound becomes a little bigger and a little bigger until this massive infection emerges as an oozing, slimy, pea green, puss filled invader.  As the wounds fester without proper treatment your mind, your heart, and your spirit will in due time become septic. Wounds DO NOT go away on their own they MUST be healed.  Not just treated with any old remedy you can find but the exact potent medicine for the exact infection.

Sepsis occurs in the human body when the infection reaches the blood stream and rapidly invades you entire body and all of its systems. As quoted by the Mayo Clinic “early, aggressive treatment boosts your chances of surviving sepsis”.  So…..if you choose not to treat sepsis immediately and aggresively eventually it WILL kill you!  It will consume you until you are no more!   I have worked very hard over the years to “cure” most of my hurts and wounds and eventually after some time of effectiveness I DO NOT get the results I want SO…….I slowly let go and give up. Have you ever taken an antibiotic and the Dr. always tells you to finish the bottle cause even when you start to feel a little better the infection is NOT completely gone?  What happens when you stop taking your meds too early?  The infection not only comes back but with a vengeance cause now it can resist the antibiotic!  Your hurts will respond in a similar way.

Ever tried to operate at peek performance while septic?  You can put on face for a while but, eventually when life, marriage, children,or homeschooling squeeze you hard enough your smelly green puss filled septic infection is going to spew forth, ooze from your pores……..and woe to the one who is in its path.

The sermon series I listened to is a three part power-packed message from Insight for Living, by Pastor Chuck Swindoll. These are some of the most important words that Pastor Swindol shares that actually hold the power and possibility to change the trajectory of your healing.  “Each one of us is responsible for our own wrong doings.  It was done by you not forced by another.  Therefore we are responsible for recovering from them and I dare NOT blame this on anyone else!  Everything I do that is wrong is MY FAULT. Don’t dare pass the responsibility of recovery off on anyone else hoping they will make it right so I can follow suit”

My heart, my mind, and my spirit are severely septic and have been for a very looooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggggg time. Every inch of my being is yearning for His antidote.  Remember the immediate and aggressive treatment sepsis requires?  It is going to take more than a Christian book, a conference, a passage, a prayer, an inspiring song or blog, or the wise words of a brother or sister in Christ.  Knock aggressive out of the park by taking on a tenacious impassioned unbelievable effort to allow His mighty hand to FULLY remove every last infected cell in your mind, heart, & spirit.  When He is done….you will be free at last.

If you have been struggling to overcome the impossible and everything else has failed Don’t Quit!  What if you listened to this message and it spoke to you?  What if this could pave the way to a new path for you?  Each part in this series is jam packed and I encourage you to only listen to one part at a time as to NOT miss a speck of its richness.

Everyday the choices you make say what you are and who

Always waiting on someone else to fix you

Aren’t those amazing lyrics from Francesca Battistelli song It’s Your Life

I can’t wait for next time to dig deep into Isaiah 58:1-12 and the plethora of wisdom it holds to shine His light on your new permanent path!

God bless
